Smriti Mandhana’s father, Srinivas, who was admitted to hospital on November 23 following a heart attack, has now been discharged. Doctors have declared him “out of danger,” bringing much-needed relief to the family after days of intense medical supervision. His admission came on the morning of Smriti’s wedding day with Palash Muchhal, forcing the cricketer to postpone the ceremony indefinitely. Mandhana’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, had earlier explained the situation in stark detail. He said, “Today in the morning, when Smriti’s father was having breakfast, his health deteriorated. We waited for a bit… But when it deteriorated further, we called for an ambulance… Smriti is very close to her father. She has decided that the marriage will be indefinitely postponed until he gets well.” Mishra also noted that doctors had advised continued observation at the time. Fresh assessments have confirmed that Srinivas is stable. Reports state that an angiography was conducted, and no blockages were detected. Medical teams have formally declared that his heart condition no longer poses a threat. With the discharge completed, the family now shifts to home-based care, under medical guidance, after a distressing week. Read also: "Grovel" for "bauna?" Controversy sparked after SA head coach threatens India after Day 4 dominance Palash also hospitalised as emotional strain rises The episode triggered another unexpected turn when Palash Muchhal, Smriti’s fiancé, was also hospitalised a day after Srinivas’s admission. According to Palash’s mother, Amita, the sudden stress and emotional breakdown led to his brief hospital stay. She dismissed claims of major illness and attributed his condition to overwhelming anxiety over Srinivas’s health. Amita said, “Palash ko uncle se bahut zyada attachment hai… Smriti se zyada yeh dono close hain… Palash ne decision liya ke usko abhi phere nahi karne jab tak uncle thik nahi ho jaate.” Her remarks clarified that the decision to pause the ceremonies stemmed from deep personal bonds rather than logistical complications. Both families are now focused on recovery and stability, as Srinivas returns home and Palash regains normalcy after medical evaluation.
