Indian women's cricket team star Smriti Mandhana has been awarded as the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year. This is her second time to get the title, making her the second cricketer to achieve this feat. Smriti Mandhana joined New Zealand's Suzie Bates in an elite club after winning the 2024 honor, beating Chamari Athapaththu, Laura Wolvaardt, and Annabel Sutherland. Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of India's ODI team, first clinched the prestigious award in 2018. Alongside this accolade, she was also honored as the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year in both 2018 and 2021. In 2024, Smriti showcased unmatched brilliance, amassing 794 runs in 13 matches at an impressive average of 57.46, including four centuries. This performance cemented her status as the highest run-scorer in women's ODIs for the year. Notably, she became the first female batter to register four centuries in a single calendar year, a milestone achieved with a commanding hundred in Perth in December 2024. Although shortlisted for the ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year, Smriti was edged out by New Zealand's Amelia Kerr, whose exceptional contributions propelled the White Ferns to their T20 World Cup victory.
