If the English weather were not capricious enough during Test season, Colombo has now entered the fray. The second Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka took a dramatic turn at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground on Thursday when clear skies gave way to a crazy thunderstorm, bringing play to an abrupt halt. Bangladesh were in trouble already having lost four wickets for a mere 76 runs in favorable batting conditions. Sri Lanka's mature bowling made the visitors struggle early on. The mature combination of Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das were attempting to calm the innings after Lunch. Just as things began to look steady, the weather unexpectedly turned. It was in the 34th over, with Asitha Fernando coming in to bowl, that pandemonium broke loose. A fierce gust of winds swirled through the ground, and before people could realize anything, the stumps at the non-striker's end were knocked out of the ground. Umpires held on for the winds to settle down, but nature had other intentions. Also Read: Will Jasprit Bumrah play all Tests? The dark clouds which had appeared creeping in earlier let loose heavy rain, and players were seen hastening off the pitch. Groundsmen rushed to get the covers on, fighting the wind and the rain. The moment immediately went viral, with Twitter fans responding to the surreal view of stumps being pulled out by nature rather than bowlers. The game, already hot, got a fantastical turn with Colombo's crazy weather. Though the cricket was put on the back burner, the stormy break was the day's highlight.
