Following disappointments in the Test and ODI components of their tour, Bangladesh will finally board the flight back home on a positive note after taking the T20I series, registering a 1-2 win over Sri Lanka with an eight-wicket victory in the series decider at Colombo's R. Premadasa Stadium on July 16. Bangladesh came into the T20I series having lost the two-match Test series and the ODI series 2-1. Bangladesh won their first T20I series in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh were devastated in the first T20I but came back strong in the second and carried that momentum over to the decider. Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka decided to bat first following the toss, but his side collapsed. Other than opener Pathum Nissanka's 46 and Dasun Shanaka's 35, the home side struggled to form alliances. Five of the Sri Lankan batsmen were picked out on single-figure scores. He torn through Sri Lanka's middle order, including sending Kusal Perera, Chandimal, and Asalanka back in rapid succession. Mustafizur Rahman and Shamim Hossain also contributed a wicket each, while Shoriful Islam, though costly, picked up the wicket of Kusal Mendis. Sri Lanka were limited to 132/7 in their 20 overs. Bangladesh's pursuit was off to a bad start with Parvez Hossain Emon getting out on the first ball. But Tanzid Hasan destroyed an unrestrained 73 off only 47 deliveries, decorating his innings with one boundary and half-a-dozen sixes. Skipper Litton Das came in handy with a 32-run effort before Towhid Hridoy chipped in with an unbeaten 27. The visitors reached the target in only 16.3 overs and won the match with 21 deliveries to spare. Interestingly, Litton Das was the first Bangladesh captain to achieve two away series victories in the shortest form of cricket. Das was also the recipient of the Player of the Series for aggregating 114 runs in three innings.
