Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Mohsin Naqvi was seen smirking beside Governor of Sindh Kamran Tessori while the latter lauded Naqvi despite his cowardice act of not handing the trophy to the Indian Cricket Team. Pakistan has gained enough leverage after the PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi flew away with the Asia Cup Trophy in 2025 from the Dubai International Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Team is currently undergoing a lean phase in cricket and had suffered defeats in all three matches of the tournament against India. However, Naqvi, who is also the country's interior minister, seems to be enjoying praises for not letting India take the trophy. One such incident was caught in a video where Tessori was cursing the Indian Cricket team, calling them terrorists, and Naqvi was smiling beside him. In the video, Tessori was heard saying, "When he was standing on the ground and the Indian team was not taking the trophy, he demonstrated patience and kept standing. They (the Indian team) wanted him to step aside and let someone else take it. But they did not know that our chairman is also the Interior Minister." He added, Unhone team ko baad mein dehshat gardon ki tarah handle kiya (He then handled the team like terrorists). He (Naqvi) put the trophy in the car and took it away with him. Ab poora India trophy ke peeche bhag raha hai (Now, the whole of India is chasing the trophy)." He said, "We were actually waiting at the ground for one hour. If you look at the TV visuals, you'll see that I was lying on the ground. The rest were also lying on the ground. Arshdeep Singh was busy making reels. We were just waiting, and we were thinking, ‘The trophy will come anytime now.' It was one hour, and the trophy was nowhere to be found." Indians had earlier made it clear that they won't take the trophy from Naqvi, despite him being the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council. The team was ready to take it from anyone, but Naqvi was adamant. After India stuck with their decision, Naqvi was seen walking out, with an event man following him with the trophy in hand. Following that, India did a Lionel Messi-like celebration, with the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, bringing in the imaginary trophy to the podium. Tilak Varma revealed that it was Arshdeep Singh's idea to go on with the celebration after a few players voted for it. "Arshdeep said, let's create an atmosphere. He said we should just celebrate in the same fashion as the T20 World Cup in 2024, minus the trophy. Abhishek Sharma, we, along with 5-6 more people, then gave our nod for the same. Then we went ahead with it.”
