Ahead of the 5-Test match contest against Aistralia, the former New Zealand cricketer, presently commentator Simon Doull, has predicted Australia's possible strategy to restrict India's Jasprit Bumrah. The Border Gavaskar Trophy featuring 5 Test matches will start on November 22. The series will not only be just a series to retain the trophy but a qualifier for the World Test Championship final in 2025. Following the 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand in the recently concluded Test series, India is hanging in such a situation where they have to win four Tests as compulsory. The team itself is struggling, showing scattered hopes, with Jasprit Bumrah being the only one as the Atlas. Well, Simon Doull figures out a cunning way, which the Aussies may use—let Bumrah bowl for hours to tire him, unless they can smash him ruthlessly. This may continue for at least three consecutive test matches. In a show at Jio Cinema, Doull explained his tactics, “What Australia have done smartly is scheduling. They know that, while batters are going to be key in some shape or form, but their biggest threat is Jasprit Bumrah. So they have gone with the three hardest and fastest surfaces, plus the Pink-Ball Test. They are trying to cook Bumrah. They will cook him in the heat of Perth, where he will have to bowl a lot of overs. Then he is going to have to go and bowl a lot of overs in that second pink-ball Test match in Adelaide." Smart scheduling from Australia The second test (December 6) will start 9 days after the first one, with the third (December 14) having just 4 days in between. Ideally, its not perfect for a fast bowler to recharge; so does it for Bumrah. Doull added, "And then you've got to go to Brisbane where generally, first up, the seamers are quite good as well. So we're going to cook Bumrah in the first two, three Test matches, make sure he bowls a lot of overs. And then they're going to have to make a change. They're going to have to go to someone else. So I think the scheduling from Australia's point of view has been quite smart because very rarely do they start a series in Perth.” Bumrah, right now, is the only certain hope for the Indian cricket team in Australia. Back in 2018-19, when India won their first series in Australia, Bumrah took 21 wickets in four matches, averaging 17. This time, India is travelling with Mohammad Siraj, who took a crucial fifer in the Gabba test. However, the New Zealand Series saw him trembling with the line. Akash Deep, who is expected to lighten the burden, will have another youngster, Harshit Rana, who hopefully will ease the job for Bumrah.
