The much-awaited Ranji Trophy 2025-26 is not too far away. With teams eyeing for a strong start this season, they are building a strong foundation for the fresh season. In the latest development, the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) announced their squad for the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season comprising 15 members with Lee Young Lepcha to lead the side. Sikkim will compete in the ‘Plate Division’ with their first match scheduled against Manipur on October 15 at their home venue Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining, Rangpo. After their season opener, the team will face Meghalaya in Shillong on October 25, Mizoram in Anand on November 1, before returning home to host Bihar on November 8 and Arunachal Pradesh on November 16. Other members in the team are Anwesh Karan Sharma, Amit Rajera, Arun Chettri, Ankur Malik, Ashish Thapa, Bijay Prasad, Bhim Lall Luitel, Nilesh Lamichaney, Palzor Tamang, Pranesh Chettri, and Robin Limboo. SICA have always primarily focused on nurturing the local talents. According to SICA spokesperson S. Nugo, the decision to bring in guest players was to improve Sikkim cricket. As quoted by Telegraph India, S. Nugo said: “This step aims to balance competitiveness with player development. Our foremost objective remains the long-term growth of cricket in Sikkim. However, fielding a balanced and competitive side is crucial in national tournaments, where experience and skills of seasoned professionals significantly enhance performance and provide invaluable mentorship to our local players.” The New season of the Ranji Trophy gets underway on October 15, 2025, marking another milestone in India’s most prestigious domestic red-ball tournament.
