Earlier, a report from Cricbuzz claimed that today, the BCCI management would be sitting with Rohit Sharma, the present ODI captain of India, regarding his future with the team. He already enjoyed a seven-month gap from the Champions trophy 2025, and the upcoming Australia ODI series. Ro had been working to shed his weight. It was said that due to the limited ODI matches in this year's cycle, the management is not in a rush to take in any drastic situation. However, a report from the Indian Express claimed that the management is looking at Gill to be the ODI captain, replacing Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, a recent report from PTI has claimed that Shubman Gill, along with Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, might be rested for the Australia ODI series. Both players have been in action since the Asia Cup. Even if Shubman plays the ODI matches, he might be called back from Australia and won't be playing the T20I series that followed. Rishabh Pant unlikely to play the white-ball series againt Australia Rishabh Pant, who was expected to be fit for the Australia white ball series, is unlikely to play it. The three-match ODI series will be beginning on October 19, with the first one being played at Perth. The five-match T20I series will be starting on October 29, with canberra hosting the first one. However, a report from the Times of India said that Pant won't be able to play the series. The squad will be announced today, October 4.
