Shubman Gill, after missing the Duleep Trophy due to viral fever, will join the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru on August 29. The 25-year-old had been initially named the captain of North Zone for the tournament but had to pull out due to sickness. As per reports, Gill has now recovered fully and returned to training. On August 28, the Indian Test skipper was seen exercising at the Mohali gym as well as taking a net practice. But frequent rains in the area disrupted his outdoor preparation, forcing him to be shifted to Bengaluru for improved facilities for the Asia Cup. Reports had earlier indicated that Gill, along with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, was scheduled for fitness tests on August 30 or 31. Gill and Rahul are likely to have theirs as scheduled, but Rohit's test has been rescheduled to mid-September.
