The India team currently has a bit of good news, as their Test captain, Shubman Gill, is steadily recovering from the neck injury he sustained during the first Test against South Africa at Kolkata. According to a report from RevSports, he has already left for the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation. Even though the exact time of his comeback is not assured, he will be targeting the 5-match T20I series that will happen after the ODI series. However, everything will depend on when he will recover. What happened to Shubman Gill? As per reports, he already had a niggle in his neck, which worsened while he came to bat on day 2 at Eden Gardens. There were reports earlier that claimed that he had a nerve tear, which he sustained while sweeping. He survived for four balls before retiring hurt. Shubman was carried out via stretcher and was admitted to the Woodlands hospital's Intensive Care Unit. However, he was released the next day and was reportedly wearing a neckband. He was supposed to go to Mumbai to visit a spine specialist but cancelled that. Rather, he decided to tour Guwahati on the day with his team to boost the team's morale. However, he was given a different car in Kolkata, accompanied by the team's physio. Later, he was replaced by Nitish Reddy in the squad, after which he flew to Mumbai and met Dr. Abhay Nene, who is a spinal injury specialist. According to reports, Shubman was given an injury to ease the pain. Read also: "Brainfade shot" as Dale Steyn said!
