Back in November, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer clashed to see who would earn more in IPL 2025. Pant, on the very last day of the auction, edged past the Mumbai batter by some Rs 0.25 crore to become the most expensive player in IPL history. Since then, it has been Iyer winning the dressing room battles. Both have had starkly contrasting seasons so far in IPL 2025-from captaincy to batting. Iyer, now leading PBKS, has been fairly consistent with the bat, coming through in situations and leading from the front. Pant, however, has failed terribly with the bat. His form has dipped so badly that the worth of the Rs 27 crore now seems to weigh on the franchise. Both players lead the new franchises after having been released by their former teams. However, the contrast in their leadership is stark. Iyer has remained calm and mature and supported his team through losses. Pant, on the other hand, mostly blames others. After a recent defeat to PBKS, the LSG skipper blamed some fielding errors, neglecting to accept that his own poor batting contributed to that loss. Time to get statistical. Iyer has piled up 405 runs in 11 innings at an average of 50.62 and a whopper strike rate of 180.80. He has four fifties and five scores above 30, with his highest being an unbeaten 97. Since then, nothing has been going his way. In 10 innings, he has managed 128 runs at an average of 12.8 with a slow strike rate of 99.22. His best is a lethargic 63 against CSK. He has hit only 6 sixes and 11 fours all season. He is off form. In contrast to Iyer, Pant has scored less than 10 in 6 of his 10 innings.
