Right-handed batter Shreyas Iyer, who recently scored a century in a Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra, today rubbished reports that claim he will miss the next game due to a shoulder injury. The batter asked the media to "do some homework" before publishing news on his X (formerly Twitter) while posting it today. Several reports had claimed that Shreyas would miss Mumbai's next game in the Ranji Trophy following a shoulder injury. One report even went as far as to say that Iyer would miss the game against Tripura, which is to start on October 26 at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala. The report cited BCCI sources which said Shreyas needed at least a week to recover. A social media user posted: "Shreyas Iyer set to miss Mumbai's next Ranji Trophy game - Cricbuzz." Iyer, while quoting a social media user who posted, said: "Guys, seriously, let’s do some homework before publishing news" Hey Shreyas, sorry if the news isn't accurate. I've had no intentions to do it. It was published by Cricbuzz. Sorry once again!https://t.co/BZZL98pP3e — Mufaddal Vohra (@mufaddal_vohra) October 23, 2024 Also Read | Chad Bowes Hits Fastest List A Double Century in Ford Trophy The user later deleted the post after Shreyas called him out. He also mentioned that it was not his intention to post it, he did it because it was published by Cricbuzz. Last week, Shreyas made a sensational comeback with a knock of 142 runs from 190 balls against Maharashtra and helped Mumbai bounce back to win after it had lost the season's first match to Baroda. Earlier in the year, Shreyas was axed mid-test home series against England after a few successive poor scores. He was also overlooked for BCCI's central contracts list due to the reason of not playing in domestic games during his stint abroad out of national team. India will tour Australia to play a five-Test match tie-up in November. The tour party is likely to be announced post the second Test against New Zealand on 28 October. Still, no word for Shreyas Iyer as he does not get any indication of getting selected into that tour, nor has he been enlisted with the India A team.
