Shreyas Iyer is all set to make his return to the Ranji trophy tournament, he will rejoin the Mumbai squad for their upcoming match against Odisha on November 6 at the MCA ground, according to the Times of India. Iyer, who had previously requested a break, missed Mumbai’s last game against Tripura in Agartala, where he was sidelined due to a lingering shoulder injury. The Mumbai batter has dealt with recurring injuries over recent years, including a partial shoulder dislocation that required surgery in April 2021, sidelining him from several major tournaments. His persistent injury issue has always caused a problem in his national team selection. Consequently, Iyer was overlooked for India’s Test and T20I squads. Under Ajinkya Rahane’s leadership, Mumbai’s Ranji campaign has been a mixed one so far. Sitting fourth in Elite Group A, Mumbai has gathered nine points from their first three games, with one win, one loss, and a draw. Iyer’s return is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the squad as they aim to climb the group standings.
