The PBKS have granted a fresh opportunity to Glenn Maxwell, who has not exactly earned a call up on form but would have been strategic in Shreyas Iyer's decision of not including Marcus Stoinis for this match at Eden Gardens against KKR. PBKS expect the surface to turn more than KKR do. This is why they have roped Maxwell back into the squad, one who bowls off-spin and has takes wickets in four of the six matches he's played. The bigger question is the fact that he's been in terrible batting form and has only one score in double digits. His average of 8.20 is worry-inspiring, but his most troubling aspect is his strike rate of 100. Maxwell's electrifying batting is what differentiates him, and if such performance is missing, the drop in his worth is fast. Azmatullah Omarzai has replaced Xavier Bartlett in the other change. The Afghan all-rounder is known for his swing bowling and can easily fit into the role of Bartlett. Apart from that, he is a pretty capable batter too. So it is still not clear where he will bat, but if Omarzai manages to bowl a few tight overs in the powerplay, he will have done his job.
