Rajat Patidar believes the key to Royal Challengers Bengaluru's home performance lies in smarter shot selection. With RCB having lost all of their matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2025, Patidar had opened up during the pre-match press conference about how RCB can tackle the issue going forward. "Absolutely, you are right, the shot selection matters. Because this time the wickets are two-paced wickets and the bounce is varying, so I think the bowlers are getting a lot of help, the way their ball is dipping, the way they are getting the bounce, so I think the more we focus on hitting [behind] square of the wicket, the better it will be." The Chinnaswamy Stadium, once known as a paradise for batters, has offered more assistance to bowlers this season. RCB’s inability to build partnerships after losing early wickets has hurt them repeatedly. RCB, who currently sit in the fourth spot, will look to break the losing streak at home as they take on the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday. Kumble confident in young spinners, says RCB's batting approach needs fixing Former RCB captain Anil Kumble, now a prominent voice on JioHotstar, pointed out that it’s not just the pitch but also the batting approach that has been lacking. “RCB’s challenge when batting first at Chinnaswamy is that it’s hard to gauge a good score. Typically, anything below 200 isn’t safe, but this year, the pitch has been a bit spongy and sticky, which doesn’t help the batsmen. Despite that, it’s an advantage for bowlers. In all three matches where RCB batted first at Chinnaswamy, they struggled,” Kumble said on JioHotstar. Kumble stressed that senior batters like Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal need to anchor the innings to allow the likes of Patidar and Phil Salt to play their natural game. He also praised the impact of young spinners in this year’s tournament, especially Suyash Sharma. “I’m really impressed with the young spinners, especially Suyash Sharma, who has improved his consistency. Even on challenging pitches like Chinnaswamy, they’re showing maturity. Suyash has been particularly impressive,” he said. Also Read: NZC partners with MLC, franchise set for 2027 debut
