Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam will miss the opportunity to feature in County Championship cricket for Kent as the BCB refused to give him a NOC. Earlier this month, the Bangladesh pacer received an offer from Kent, following the arrival of his fellow countryman Hasan Mahmud in the English county. Kent were keen for Shoriful to feature in four County Championship matches, which would have resulted in the pair playing together. Despite this, the BCB has opted to continue to have him around the national set-up after the recent Australia and Zimbabwe tours. The board feels that his inclusion would help manage the volume of work as Bangladesh gets ready for their next Test series. BCB Blocks Shoriful's Kent Move The option is connected to the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle that Bangladesh are presently involved in. The BCB are keen for Shoriful to be fit and ready for the Test matches that Bangladesh will be playing next. The 25-year-old recently resurrected his career by putting in one of his finest performances for Bangladesh in the 2nd Test against Australia at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, Mackay. With Shoriful not around, Kent are likely to call upon another Bangladesh pacer, Khaled Ahmed. He will be the latest in Bangladesh fast bowlers to play County Championship cricket in England. Shoriful had a missed chance after having created history through a brilliant bowling effort against Australia. His spell assisted in dismissing the Australians for 210. Shoriful was the highest scorer for Bangladesh in the first innings with 14; however, it was not enough to save the game for Bangladesh, who were defeated in the match within two days and levelled the series 1-1. The seven wickets also kept him in a select company of left-arm fast bowlers. The last left-arm fast bowler to take seven wickets in a Test innings was England's Dick Barlow, 7/44 at Manchester against Australia in 1886. Tom Emmett of England had previously claimed 7/68 versus Australia in Melbourne in 1879. While Shoriful will be deprived of county cricket this season, the BCB decision highlights how important he will be for Bangladesh's upcoming Test campaigns.
