Sheldon Jackson, 38, a prolific cricketer of Saurashtra, bids adieu to first-class cricket after playing his last match against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 quarter-final at Delhi. Saurashtra lost the match by an innings and 98 runs, allowing Gujarat to secure the spot in 1st Semi-Final. Jackson, who announced his retirement from FC cricket, did not have a great outing in the last match. The 38-year-old scored 14 runs in first innings and 27 runs in the second innings. Sheldon Jackson has not only been a fine batter, but has also been a multidimensional cricketer, being a great fielder and an occasional wicketkeeper in the white-ball cricket for Saurashtra. He scored 39 and 13 in both the innings of that match, making his debut less memorable. However, his sensational performance in the 2012-13 season of Ranji Trophy, where he scored four half-centuries and three centuries, grabbed the attention of many. Following his stellar outings in the Ranji Trophy, Jackson was added to India A's squad for home matches against West Indies A. Since his debut for Saurashtra, Sheldon Jackson has played a total of 98 Ranji Trophy matches in which he has scored 6653 runs at an average of 59.90. He has smashed 19 centuries and 36 fifties to amass these runs in this highly competitive tournament. Talking about his overall first-class career, he has played 106 matches in which he has scored 7283 at an average of 45.80. He has also played 86 List A and 84 T20 matches, in which he has scored 2792 and 1812 runs.
