Shashank Singh, 33, who finished a few games for Punjab Kings in India Premier League (IPL) 2024 and helped them in winning crucial matches single-handedly, shared how Former India and CSK’s skipper, MS Dhoni's advice helped him improve his game. The PBKS star, who was retained by the franchise for Rs 5.5 crore ahead of the mega auction, spoke about the impact of the former Indian skipper's words on his confidence. MS Dhoni’s Advice to Shashank Singh Shashank, in an interview with PTI, said that Dhoni had once told him he could be one of the best players in the world if he could win three out of every ten games for his team. He said that that simple advice built his confidence about himself, where he realized that he didn't have to win every match, but he has to contribute at the right times. Shashank said: “Once I had a conversation with Mahi Bhai about this finisher’s thing. So he told me that if you’re winning three games for your team out of 10, you are in the world’s five or 10 best players. That gave me really confidence that it’s important to accept that every match is not possible practically for me to win. So, I just try to collect those good points, which I did. Just try to minus those stupid point or points which were not sensible.” Shashank impressed one and all during the IPL 2024 season as he scored 354 runs in 14 matches at an average of 44.25. The team continued to perform consistently with him and hence decided to retain him for the next season as well. Shashank was surprisingly picked for Rs 20 lakh by Punjab Kings in the last IPL Auction. This was because of a mix-up between the player and one other with the same name. The confusion later subsided, and Shashank was set to make it special in the tournament.
