Shardul Thakur has etched his name in history by taking a hat-trick for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match against Meghalaya at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai. He became only the fifth player to achieve this feat for Mumbai. The bowling all-rounder, who impressed everyone by scoring 51 and 119 in the last game against Jammu and Kashmir has delivered with the bowl this time. The 33-year-old dismissed Nishanta Chakraborty for a duck in the first over, but that wasn't enough as Thakur went on to dismantle Meghalaya batting order with his bowling brilliance. In the 3rd over of the innings, Thakur castled Balchander Anirudh (0) on the fourth delivery, which was followed by a caught dismissal of Sumit Kumar on the very next ball which brought him on the hat-trick delivery. Shardul held his nerves and cleaned up Jaskirat Singh for a golden duck on the last ball of the over and claimed the first hat-trick for Mumbai after Royston Dias' hat-trick in 2023-2024 season.
