Mumbai's consistent all-rounder, Shams Mulani, once again proved his worth in domestic cricket. This time it was his match-winning performance against Jammu & Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy. The 28-year-old left-arm spinner and a dependable lower-order batter scored 91 runs in the first innings, followed by 41 runs in the second innings, alongside nine wickets taken by him during the match, seven of which came in the second innings. All these efforts drove Mumbai towards a convincing win. Mulani's phenomenal contribution proved highly crucial to Mumbai's supremacy as he went on to continue his line of good current form in red-ball cricket. After the match, Mulani was happy with him putting in work that he would carry. Mulani told The Hindu: "Right through the game, I thought the ball was coming out of my hand nicely. If there was even a little help, I felt I could be effective. I tried to use the crease well." He made his one and only appearance for India A in February last year against the England Lions, where he took a five-wicket haul. But when asked whether this could lead to a national call-up, Mulani remained grounded and insisted that his focus was on representing Mumbai with all of his efforts. He said: "My mindset is very clear. I just want to perform for Mumbai. Selection is not in my hands. My job is to perform. Performance never hurts. If I keep putting in such Player-of-the-Match performances, I know that things will be good and that I will get a chance.” Also Read | Watch: Virat Kohli’s Epic Reaction After Australian Fans Mock Him During Autograph Session Consistent in Domestic Cricket With such a record in first-class cricket, Mulani proves his worth in skill and reliability.
