Mohammed Shami can also spend more time on the bench as he is unlikely to be picked for the ODI series against Australia. The Men in Blue are set to play their first 50-over format series after Champions Trophy in October when they go Down Under for a three-match series. Shami, the last member of the CT 2025 team, is not expected to find a place Down Under, considering he is out of the favour of selectors. Will Shami Be Left Out of IND vs AUS ODIs? Shami hasn't been himself since he returned to international cricket this year. Though he has perhaps been one of the most effective white-ball bowlers for India, it just isn't true this year. In 11 ODIs that he has played since his return, he has been able to take 11 wickets at an average of 30.63. Two of those were against England, and the rest in CT 2025 (5 against BAN, 3 against AUS and 1 against NZ). Shami, who by then was in question for his fitness, inconsistency of bowling at the same pace and length, was omitted from India's team for the England Tests and then India A's team for the multi-day matches against Australia A. During Duleep Trophy, he took only one wicket in favor of East Zone at the cost of 136 runs. Considering his battle with his fitness, and the selectors themselves being not too sure about his form, Shami is most likely to miss out for IND vs AUS ODIs. Well, India do not have to worry as they have a lot of options. To begin with, India will definitely have Jasprit Bumrah in the team – although he won't feature in all three matches. To share the duties with him, and who will feature in all three matches, will be Mohammed Siraj – who will be back in the ODI team after a prolonged absence. Besides, India have the services of Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Hardik Pandya as backup pacers.
