India's veteran pacer Mohammad Shami is all set to return to the Indian team after 14 months of recovery. Mohammad Shami, who was a crucial member in the 2023 ODI World Cup team, was suffering from injuries that had sidelined him from international cricket. In a recent post by Shami on his Instagram account, he expressed his excitement to comeback in the team. The 34-year-old pacer posted a reel where he was seen cleaning his spikes, juggling a white ball, and then organizing his stuffs in his kit bag, finally zipping it off. His caption says, "The wait is over! Match mode ON as I prepare to rejoin Team India." He then went for surgery and returned to the domestic circuit. He played for Bengal but suffered from knee swelling. This, thus, dismissed his chance to join the Indian team in Australia for the second half of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The BCCI medical team was keeping him observation, and he is now set to return to the Indian team in the 5-match T20 series against England, with the first match on January 22 at Kolkata. Shami will lead India’s pace attack in the T20I series against England, supported by Arshdeep Singh, India's most successful fast bowler in T20s. Since his debut in 2014, Shami has played 23 T20Is and taken 24 wickets, with his last match in the format coming against England in November 2022.
