India’s 8-match winning streak in the One-Day Internationals was broken by Australia on Sunday with a dominant 7-wicket victory in Perth. Amid rain delays, Australia still successfully cruised to a victory and took a 1-0 lead in the series. It was the first match for the newly appointed team, India ODI captain Shubman Gill, and it resulted in a disappointing defeat. Team India had a poor outing with their bat at the Optus Stadium, with the top-order failing to score runs at the top. Fans who were eagerly waiting for India’s matches after the Champions Trophy triumph were left heartbroken. Amid this, one person with the username ‘Jod Insane’ on the social media platform ‘X’ wrote something from his point of view, but labelled as it was quoted by the former Indian player Navjot Singh Sidhu. Jod Insane posted: ‘‘If India wants to win the 2027 ODI World Cup, then BCCI should remove Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir as soon as possible and hand over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma again with full respect.’’ NAVJOT SINGH SIDHU IS ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON 💯. pic.twitter.com/a7mD2FzuGE — 𝐉𝐨𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐞 (@jod_insane) October 19, 2025 Sidhu, who is often known for his blunt takes and words during commentary, later quoted that person from his original account and asked him to stop spreading fake information. He wrote, ‘’Never said it, don’t spread fake news, never imagined it. Shame on you." Navjot Singh Sidhu’s post: Never said it , don’t spread fake news ,never imagined it. Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Mitchell Starc for just 8 runs in the opening match. Along with Rohit, Virat had a poor outing as well, registering a duck in his first ODI appearance since March. The second ODI match between India and Australia will be played on October 23 at Adelaide Oval. It will be a crucial match for the Shubman Gill-led side as they would look to bounce back and level the three-match series 1-1.
