Bangladesh cricket icon Shakib Al Hasan has etched his name in the record books by becoming the first-ever cricketer to reach 500 wickets and 7000 runs in T20 cricket. The star all-rounder reached this milestone while guiding Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to an intense seven-wicket victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 at Sir Viv Richards Stadium, Antigua. Shakib's all-round excellence had him take 3/11 in two overs with the ball before hitting a match-winning 25 off 18 balls during the pursuit of 137, wrapping it up with two balls remaining. He was awarded Player of the Match for his winning performance. A Historic Milestone in T20 Cricket Thanks to his three-wicket performance, Shakib became a member of the 500-wicket club in T20 cricket, with him being just the fifth bowler to reach this milestone after Rashid Khan, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Imran Tahir. What is interesting here is that he's the first left-handed spinner to reach the mark, further cementing his position as the greatest all-rounder of all time. Shakib also made history by emerging as the sole player with more than 500 wickets and 7000 runs in T20 cricket. Although Bravo retired near this double landmark, players like Andre Russell are still on the chase.
