On day 5 of the fourth Test at Melbourne, Travis Head made a weird celebration after taking Rishabh Pant's wicket, to which the former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu got furious. Pant was uncharacteristically gritty, scoring just 30 runs of 104 balls. He made an 88-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, aiming for a draw. However, right after the Tea, Pant, trying to hit a pull shot off Travis Head, got caught in the long on. Following that, Head did a seemingly vulgar celebration of having the index finger of one hand inserted into the other palm. It has been viral on social media, with fans interpreting it in different ways. Regarding that celebration, Sindhu felt that it would set a bad example for young kids and women, adding the fact that Head has insulted 1.5 billion Indians. On X he posted, "Travis head’s obnoxious behaviour during the course of the Melbourne test doesn’t auger well for for the gentleman’s game…… sets the worst possible example when there are kids, women , young & old watching the game……. this caustic conduct did not insult an individual but a nation of 1.5 billion Indians……stringent punishment that would serve a deterrent for the future generations needs to be slapped on him so that no one dares follow suit !!!" In the post-match press conference, he said that, "I can explain that. His finger's are so hot, he needs to put it in a cup of ice. Yeah, that's what it is. That's normally the running joke. He also took a wicket somewhere where goes straight to the fridge, grabs a bucket of ice, puts his fingers in and just walks in front of Lyno (Nathan Lyon). Just like that. It's very funny." Notably, a shabby batting performance from the Indian team cost them the fourth Test at Melbourne as they suffered an 184-run defeat.
