Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, known for his fiery batting and strong opinions, recently shared his thoughts on the rising ILT20 league and its potential to grow. Sehwag, now a commentator for the league, is excited about how the tournament is shaping up, especially in terms of its growing popularity and young talent. While the league has so far seen limited participation from Indian cricketers, Sehwag is hopeful that this will change in the future. When asked about it, Sehwag expressed his wish to see more Indian players join the league. During a media interaction in Abu Dhabi with Hindustan Times, Sehwag said, "If any Indian player who has just retired from international cricket or IPL and if they want to play, like Dinesh Karthik went to SA20 and he participated there. So, we would love to see some Indian players participate in ILT20." The former Indian opener did not hesitate to pick the one player he would like to see in the ILT20: Yuvraj Singh. Recalling the iconic moment when Yuvraj hit six sixes in an over against England’s Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, Sehwag called him "the sixer man." His admiration for Yuvraj’s explosive batting remains unchanged, and he believes the former all-rounder would be a huge asset to the league. With a smile, he said, "I am too old to play. But still, you can play. I am too old. I can't handle fast bowling now." He explained that his role as a commentator allowed him to enjoy the game from a different perspective while sharing his valuable insights with viewers. Looking at the bigger picture, Sehwag is positive about the future of ILT20. He believes the league is growing stronger every year, benefiting especially the young players from the UAE. Sehwag shared, "I think this is third year for me to, you know, in the ILT20 as a commentator. And I'm seeing that a lot of good international players are coming and playing this league, which are giving benefit to that UAE young players. We've seen that UAE young players are also playing and they're getting good experience with that international players. So that is really good. And this year, if you look at that, all the matches are very interesting." When asked about his ideal opening partner, Sehwag didn’t have to think twice about naming David Warner, especially remembering his days in Delhi Daredevils as an opening partner of Warner.
