Virender Sehwag spared no punches in his comment on Murali Karthik while on-air for a live show. Sehwag countered Karthik's questions regarding the Rajasthan Royals' approach in the IPL 2025 mega auction and their decision to release certain key bowlers with his special brand of humor and sarcasm. Karthik questioned whether releasing seasoned match-winners like Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal has weakened RR's bowling attack and that this could come back to bite them in the ongoing season of IPL 2025. He must have remembered something which Sehwag spoke about bowlers winning tournaments. According to him, the present bowling line-up of Rajasthan lacks the bark to bite. The Royals had a mixed record so far, winning only 2 out of 4 matches and digesting the sore part of the table by currently being placed seventh. On that Sehwag answered reality in his classic style. He ironically reminded Karthik that these are the very bowlers whom he is defending and all of them are struggling now in IPL 2025. Sehwag commented on Ashwin's return after a long period with the Chennai Super Kings, being beaten to pulp at Chepauk, while Chahal did not make much impact with the Punjab Kings now. Virender Sehwag said during the discussion: “But let me tell you one thing. The bowlers left Rajasthan; they are not doing it for their teams this season. Ravichandran Ashwin is struggling with Chennai. Yuzvendra Chahal is not doing anything for Punjab. So, in a way, it's good that RR released them.” Also Read | IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans defeats Mumbai by 36 runs While this has been the talk of the town, the Rajasthan Royals had their own occasion to celebrate. Captain Sanju Samson and his team earned a comfortable win over Punjab Kings by 50 runs in Match 17 of IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur. With this one, he takes his win tally to 32 and becomes RRs' leading captain in terms of victories in the association's history. By doing so, he surpasses the great Shane Warne, the one who took the Royals to their first-ever IPL title in 2008 with 31 wins in 55 games as captain. The same is now 32 from 62 matches, putting him at No. 1 in captaincy terms for the Royals. Besides, it ended the brilliant unbeaten streak of eight games for Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer in IPL.
