The first Test match of the BGT series between India and Australia will be played in Optus Stadium of Perth from November 22. The star Indian bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, is all set to lead the Indian side for the opening match in the absence of regular captain, Rohit Sharma. Sharma, who will miss the first due to the birth of his child, is likely to join the team ahead of the second Test match. One special question that stood out from the interaction was that one of the reporters eventually asked Bumrah about captaining this Indian side but he referred to him as a ‘medium pacer allrounder’, Bumrah immediately rectified the reporter and asked him to address him (Bumrah) as a fast bowler. In the pre-match conference, here is the Bumrah’s interaction: Reporter: How does it feel to captain India as a medium-pace all-rounder? Jasprit Bumrah: Yaar, I can bowl 150kmph, at least you say fast bowler captain (laughs). Jasprit Bumrah who is known for his calm demeanor in the circle, interacted with the reporter in a fun way. It is worth mentioning that this will be only the second match in which Jasprit Bumrah will be taking the leadership responsibilities, earlier it was during the England tour in 2022 where he led the side in the last Test match. Bumrah’s numbers on Australian soil are impressive. He has played 7 Test matches in Australia and has clinched 32 wickets to his name including a fifer. Jasprit Bumrah played a key role during the previous two BGT victories in Australia and likely so he is going to be a backbone of the team again this time too.
