The Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is famous for his antics on the field—the fun-loving guy who falls down on the ground the most while hitting runs, the one who throws away his bat while hitting shots, the one who comes forward almost half the crease just to defend a ball. Once, his former teammate R. Ashwin candidly mentioned that when Rishabh is batting, his team and, well, the opponent team are equally terrified. Well, despite the antics, he has two centuries in Headingley and is now the second-highest scorer of the England series for India with 342 runs. However, former India cricketer and selector Sarandeep Singh feels that Rishabh has no need to coerce his style. According to Sarandeep, Rishabh is confident and knows what he is doing. Speaking to India Today in the sidelines of the Delhi Premier League Season 2 auction, Sarandeep said, “Rishabh Pant is a phenomenal guy. He's a very strong-headed boy and he knows what his game is. He knows what his game plan is, and he's exactly doing what people expect of him. He follows his instincts. He knows what he's going to do inside, and it's helping the Indian team as well. So I’d just say. 'Rishabh, keep doing like this because you are such a phenomenal player and a gifted player.’” Read also: Stokes Loses Cool Over Bumrah Question in Presser After Huge Defeat Loss Sarandeep hails Digvesh Rathi as match winner Notably, Sarandeep has been handed over the head coaching responsibility of the South Delhi Superstarz in the Delhi Premier League (DPL). In the action, Sarandeep has managed to get Rishabh Pant's teammate from Lucknow Super Giants, Digvesh Rathi. On acquiring the 25-year-old pacer, Sarandeep sounded confident and tagged him as a match winner. He said, “So the good thing is that we’ve got Digvesh Rathi back. He's a match-winner, and he's doing really well last season also, and recently in IPL. He’s become better and better, and he's more confident now because he’s seen that exposure at the highest level, so we were looking for him, and we got him back. We hope he'll deliver the same things which he did for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and for us in the last season." Rathi emerged as the top wicket-taker for South Delhi in the last season, claiming 14 wickets across 10 matches. His consistent spells were instrumental in guiding the team to the final, where they eventually fell short against East Delhi Riders. The wrist-spinner also led the wicket charts for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, picking up 14 scalps in 13 appearances. At 25, he will aim to replicate his form in the upcoming DPL season, having been picked up for ₹38 lakh.
