Earlier, a Times of India report confirmed that Rajasthan Royals are in no mood to trade any players for now, especially when it comes to their captain, Sanju Samson. However, several reports are suggesting that the 30-year-old keeper-batter is not having a great relationship with the management and had personally requested the franchise to release him to the auction or just get himself traded. A report from Cricbuzz on August 7 indicated the confusion, saying that Samson had made a formal request too. The report reads, "It is a fact that serious differences have cropped up between Sanju Samson and the Royals management – so much so that the designated captain has formally requested to be traded or released into the auction." The report further added, “Members of Samson’s family openly say that he no longer wishes to continue with the Royals. Some current IPL and international players close to him also indicate that his relationship with the franchise has not exactly been the way it used to be." Samson was acquired by the franchise in 2013; later he went to Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) before RR bought him again in 2018. In 2021, he was given the captaincy responsibilities and was retained in 2025 mega auction for INR 18 crore. The Jaipur-based Rajasthan Royals had put a condition that they will trade in two players from Chennai Super Kings, giving Sanju Samson. Even though CSK is keen to add the Kerala prodigy in their squad, it is likely that Samson will go to the auction. A report from Indian Express says, “It is understood that Chennai are open to the idea of bringing the 30-year-old to Chepauk through a trade deal via cash. But it has hit a roadblock, with Rajasthan preferring an exchange of two players from Chennai." The report further adds, “According to those in the know, the chances of Samson entering the auctions are highly likely at this stage if both Rajasthan and Chennai don’t reach an agreement." Sanju Samson was earlier a part of the Gautam gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders but didn't get a chance to play a match. It has been learned that KKR too wanted to rope him in. But Samson seems interested in CSK. He had even met the franchise management and the head coach, Stephen Fleming, who is currently in the UK.
