The wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson who has been in the Indian T20I setup for a long time, finally got his moment to make it worth it for all the opportunity the team management has given him. During the ongoing T20I series he also became the first Indian batter to smash back-to-back centuries in the shortest format. Karthik highlighted that Samson has refined his batting technique significantly and suggested that he deserves to be considered for an opening position alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the future. While speaking on Cricbuzz, Karthik said: “I think he [Samson] has cemented his spot as an opener. Yashasvi Jaiswal and him will be the openers at least for some time to come in the T20 format. He has made a lot of technical changes, especially suited to this format. He focused a lot on six-hitting. Against Keshav Maharaj, he stepped out but missed the length of the ball.” He further added that: “Maharaj did brilliantly to beat him in the air, but Sanju held his position and waited on the shot, hitting it over covers. That's a man who, even when he misses the length, doesn't panic and holds that extra second. That's a very tough skill to have, but he does it very well. That's what makes him very special.” The 30-year-old batter will be keen to make a strong impact once again in the upcoming third T20I. This match is scheduled for November 13 in Centurion.
