In a phenomenal achievement, Sanju Samson broke many records in the final T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg that took place on November 15. The opener batter has been in brilliant form lately, while coming to open the inning he smashed an outstanding century knock of 109 not-out off just 56 deliveries. He not only hammered the entire Proteas bowling unit but also flexed his differently-abled style of unique shot play. Sanju’s 109-run knock consisted of nine sixes and six fours. This was his third century in 2024. He also registered a major milestone as to become a designated Indian wicketkeeper to have the most fifty-plus scores in T20Is. Sanju Samson said: “It is a bit hard to tell right now since I'm breathing so fast. I have had so many failures in my life, got two hundreds and then two ducks, I kept on believing in myself, kept on working hard and it came off today. After a couple of failures there were a lot of things going on in my head, Abhishek helped me out early on and then Tilak as well.” India after posting a mammoth 283-1 in their first innings, clinically bowled out South Africa on just 148 runs and won the four-match series by 3-1. With the conclusion of this series and no further T20I series for the Indian team this year, they ended this year’s T20I run dominantly. The Indian team not only won their T20I World Cup after 17 long years but also registered the most wins (24) this year out of the 26 matches that they played.
