Ravindra Jadeja worked very hard to establish himself at the crease on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Saturday, December 28. Unfortunately, he was dismissed by a beautiful delivery from Nathan Lyon. In the 65th over of India's innings, Lyon delivered a ball which stayed straight and came in with the angle from around the wicket. Jadeja expected it to turn away but was caught off guard by the delivery's skid. Stuck in an awkward position, the ball hit his back leg, and the umpire immediately gave him out. Although Jadeja opted for a DRS review, the decision remained out as it was umpire's call on impact. It wasn't the first time Lyon troubled Jadeja. The left-hander looked all out of sorts against the off-spinner, and his dismissal looked inevitable. Jadeja had scored 17 runs off 51 balls before getting out. Here is what Sanjay Manjrekar said while speaking to Star Sports "He played the fast bowlers a lot and played them very well. He didn't make even a slight mistake against the fast bowlers. However, once Nathan Lyon came, he was expecting off-spin, that the ball would turn. His bat came for the off-spin and the ball was not turning at all. So he played with that mindset," . "It seems like Jadeja needs to practice a little more against spin because he is looking absolutely comfortable against seam. He used to play very well against spin earlier but it happens that when you play overseas, you start playing fast bowling well and your focus is slightly removed from spin. If only fast bowlers had been there, Jadeja would have played a big knock," he added. India ended Day 3 at 358/9, trailing Australia’s first-innings total by 116 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy stood out with his maiden international century. To make up for the time lost to rain, Day 4 will start 30 minutes earlier than usual.
