Former India batting coach, Sanjay Bangar, has suggested that the Indian team maintain consistency in their squad for the final ODI against England in Ahmedabad. Despite already winning the series with a 4-wicket victory in Cuttack, Bangar emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary changes. He believes keeping the same lineup will help the team stay in rhythm rather than experiment with players like Rishabh Pant or Arshdeep Singh. India sealed the series with a solid win in Cuttack, thanks to a spectacular century from Rohit Sharma and a steady 60 from Shubman Gill. With the Ahmedabad ODI being a formality, many anticipated India might test their bench strength, including players like Pant and Arshdeep. However, Bangar advised against this, urging the team to trust the current XI. He noted that while Arshdeep could be a good option due to Mohammad Shami’s recent performance, sticking with the existing combination might be the best approach. Speaking to to JioCinema, Bangar said, "I don't think Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to play. If there's merit, you can play Arshdeep Singh, you can try Rishabh Pant. But, there's only one match left. KL Rahul has not had that many chances to play for long. Whenever he comes on to bat, there are only a few runs left. But his keeping has been good so you might just want to continue your trust in him. Arshdeep might just be played because Mohammad Shami has not had the similar sharpness with his bowling... I would want to see the same team, which has played so well so far, for another match." India has been playing Harshit Rana, as has equal shares of the new ball with Mohammad Shami. Despite being in the main squad of the Champions Trophy, he is yet to play a ODI in the series. Read also: Bumrah's Injury Uncertainty: Will BCCI Announce Replacement Soon? Key Performances and Areas of Focus The third ODI holds significance, not just for the result, but also for India's preparation ahead of the Champions Trophy. One area of focus has been KL Rahul’s form. With India focussing way too much on the left-right combination, it has got KL Rahul dropped from his traditional 5th spot to number 6 in the team. With that, he have not got much chances to play, but still his form comes under question. Despite that, Bangar supports his inclusion, citing his contributions as a wicketkeeper. Meanwhile, in Cuttack, India continued their strong performance. Rohit Sharma’s 119 runs, aided by Gill’s 60, guided India to the target of 305 in 44.3 overs. However, India’s middle-order struggle remains a concern, with a mini-collapse after Rohit’s dismissal. On the bowling front, Ravindra Jadeja’s 3-wicket haul and Varun Chakravarthy’s economical spell helped India in the chase. Despite England’s decent fightback in the final overs, India comfortably secured the victory, reinforcing the need to maintain momentum heading into the next match.
