India is all set to face Australia for the fourth time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The four-test match will be played on the historic grounds of Melbourne Cricket Ground as the two teams battle it out in a gripping Boxing Day Test. The series is levelled 1-1, so the match at the iconic MCG will be of immense importance for both the teams to avoid losing the series. India has not been a good batting team in the first innings of the series. They have only crossed 200 once in the three Tests played so far. Analyzing the current form of the Indian batting lineup, former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar has displayed his views, and he suggested that the first innings batting will play an important role going forward into the series, so India needs to score big in the first innings. Here is what Bangar told Star Sports “The resolution should be that we need to score big runs in the first innings. To score big runs in the first innings, your top order will have to score runs because first-innings runs have huge significance in overseas Test matches," “I feel you are in a position where you have done a lot of hard work. Now you have to relax a little, trust your skill sets, and score big runs in the first innings. If we can do that resolution, I don't think anyone in the Australian team can even try to touch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," the former batting coach added. India's batting has been the biggest concern for the team as they have failed to make a mark on the BGT 2024-25. Batters have struggled to score runs against the quality bowling lineup of Australia. Only KL Rahul has been in form for the team; other than him, nobody has shown up for the team. Players like Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma also failed to score runs for their team. But now India will be having a fair chance to score runs in the last two Test matches. The condition will be a bit easy to bat, and they will be looking to take advantage of the good batting conditions.
