Uttar Pradesh's skipper Sameer Rizvi created history as he smashed the fastest double century in the Men’s U23 State A Trophy. He scored this amazing double hundred against Arunachal Pradesh. He scored his double hundred in just 97 balls and remained not out. In the course of his 201 runs, he smashed 20 sixes and 13 fours. The opener smashed a double century in just 103 balls against Otago in the Ford Trophy. He broke the previous record set by India’s N Jagadeesan and Australia’s Travis Head, who both achieved the milestone in 114 balls. Jagadeesan did it in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, while Head went berserk in the Marsh Cup. Now Rizvi has shattered all of these records with his brilliant double century. Earlier, Shoaib Siddiqui and Shaurya Singh gave Uttar Pradesh a solid start with a 66-run partnership. The stand was broken in the 11th over by Swarab Sahani. Siddiqui played cautiously, while Shaurya was aggressive, hitting nine fours and a six. Siddiqui managed 38 runs from 58 balls before being dismissed by Diptanu Chakraborty. Rizvi walked in to bat in the 23rd over. He did most of the scoring in the partnership with Adarsh Singh. The top-order batter scored 52 runs from 64 balls. He was dismissed by Dipen Biswas. Siddharth Yadav played second fiddle to Rizvi, who tormented the bowlers. Siddharth scored 27 runs from 35 balls. Towards the end, Prashant Veer chipped in with a nine-ball 17. Rizvi's monstrous 201, despite walking in to bat in the 23rd over, helped Uttar Pradesh post 405/4.
