Kerala won the Oman Chairman's XI T20 series with an impressive 43-run victory in the third and final match. Kerala batted first and scored a respectable 190 for 5 in 20 overs, with opener Vishnu Vinod starring with his superb unbeaten century. Oman Chairman's XI then found it difficult to maintain the required run rate, getting all out at 147 for 9. Having lost the first game of the series in Oman, Kerala came back strongly to triumph in the second and third matches and seal the series 2-1. Sent in to bat, Kerala suffered a jittery start as opener Krishna Prasad was dismissed for a duck off the second ball of the innings. The innings gained stability due to a vital third-wicket stand of 86 runs between Vinod and captain Saly Samson. Kerala skipper, and elder brother of India senior cricketer Sanju Samson, added 30 runs, while Vinod dominated, making his fifty in only 29 balls. Kerala then experienced a minor mid-order collapse, with AK Arjun (5) and Akhil Skaria (1) getting out cheaply. But Vinod, accompanied by Anfal, made sure of a good finish, taking the total beyond 190. Anfal chipped in with a swift 32 from mere 13 deliveries. Shakeel Ahmed of Oman Chairman's XI was the player who picked up two wickets. Pursuing 191, the Chairman's XI started solidly, with Jatinder Singh (27) and Aamir Kaleem (25) sharing a 45-run partnership for the opening wicket. But once the first breakthrough was achieved, the innings lacked the muscle to gain momentum. Hammad Mirza (21) and Vinayak Shukla (17) provided token resistance, while Sikriya Islam played a determined 30 off 19 balls towards the end, but the target was too high. The Kerala bowlers were responsible for keeping the chase at bay. Skaria was the star of the show, claiming 4 for 35 in his four-over spell, while Jerin P. S. chipped in with an impressive 3 for 23. The win gave Kerala the three-match series 2-1. Captain Saly Samson, Sanju Samson's elder brother, led the team with élan and has carried on his fantastic run in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL), where he also led the Kochi Blue Tigers to a title triumph.
