The Pakistan team is being troubled in the second Test at Cape Town, where the South African batters are dominating their Pakistan counterparts. On day two, the South African batters have been very much on their toes, with Ryan Rickelton, Temba Bavuma, and Kyle Verreynne having already scored big in the match. The troubles for Pakistan did not end there, as they also lost one of their key players to injury during the game. On the first day, Saim Ayub was chasing a ball that was hit by Rickelton, with Aamer Jamal also running after it. Ayub was meant to be the relay fielder while Jamal retrieved the ball, but he lost his balance and twisted his ankle, forcing him to leave the field. This means the 22-year-old left-handed batsman will miss the current Test match. It's a sad end to the series for him, as he couldn't turn his good starts into big scores in the Boxing Day Test in Centurion and now won’t get a chance to make a mark in the second Test at Newlands. Saim Ayub has had a tremendous 2024 in white-ball cricket. Playing nine ODI matches and 19 T20Is, he scored 515 runs in ODIs at an average of 64.37 and 375 runs in T20Is, where he had a phenomenal strike rate of 143.67. But in the red-ball format, things haven't gone well for him. Ayub has managed to score only 364 runs in the 14 Test innings he has played and only averages 26. He has scored only three 50+ scores with a top score of 77 against England in Multan.
