Pakistan's opener Saim Ayub has been ruled out of the 2nd Test against South Africa that is being played at the Newlands, Cape Town after suffering a sickening ankle injury on Day 1 of the 2nd Test. The injury occurred while Ayub was fielding, and Ryan Rickelton played a shot on the off-side and Ayub went for a chase. Unfortunately, the 22-year-old twisted his ankle to suffer a horrific injury. He was taken out of the field on a stretcher by the medical staff. After going throughs X-Ray and MRIs, the updates came out on him which made it clear that the youngster has been ruled out for at least six weeks. His participation in the Champions Trophy 2025 is uncertain now. The statement read. "Saim underwent X-rays and MRI tests this afternoon. The reports have been sent to specialists in London for further advice on the treatment and time away from competitive cricket." Abdullah Shafique came on the field as a replacement of Ayub on Day 1, but will he be allowed bat in the two innings? Shafique has been substituted after Ayub's ankle injury and hence, he cannot bat in the remaining two innings of the match. On Day 1 of the 2nd Test, South Africa was in complete control as they scored 316 at the loss of four wickets. Ryan Rickelton is still at the crease at the score of 176, while Temba Bavuma, the Proteas skipper, played a splendid knock of 106 before losing his wicket to Salman Agha. The hosts will carry the momentum on the second day as well and will make it as a tough day at the office for the visiting bowlers.
