The 28-year-old Ryan Rickelton etched himself into the history books after scoring a double century in the 2nd Test against Pakistan at the Newlands, Cape Town. With this, he became the only South African opener to score a double century in his first Test as an opener. The southpaw reached to 200-mark in 266 balls, making it the second fastest double century by a Proteas after Graeme Smith's 238-ball knock in 2016 against Bangladesh. His splendid knock also marked the first double ton on the South African soil since 2016, when both Ben Stokes and Hashim Amla achieved this feat at the same venue. This was also the first double century of the year 2025. His mother was also present into the crowd, and she overwhelmed to see Rickelton play at his best. The left-hander raised his helmet and celebrated his innings while he was receiving the standing ovation from the crowd.
