Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad is currently leading the Chennai-based franchise in IPL 2025, but the pace of this player might get hindered shortly in his international career. Gaikwad won't be a part of the next BCCI central contract list, reports indicate. Why Ruturaj Gaikwad Will Be Dropped from the Central Contract? The 28-year-old batter is likely to be released from the contract list as he hasn't played sufficient matches for India in the last year, says a PTI report quoted by MyKhel. There are certain standards by BCCI on which the player needs to qualify for a central contract. A player needs to feature in a minimum of one of the following in-order to be eligible for the central contract: 3 Test matches in a year 8 One Day Internationals (ODIs) in a year 10 T20 Internationals (T20Is) in a calendar year As Gaikwad has failed to fulfill these conditions, he is likely to be excluded from the contract. His only international matches for the year were four Zimbabwe T20I matches, in which he made 133 runs at 66.50 average with a strike rate of 158.33. Even though he was in good form in T20Is, he has not played enough games to feature in the central contract list. BCCI's Final Decision Still Pending Gaikwad's exclusion may be likely, but the BCCI selection committee, head coach, and board secretary can make exemptions if required. The contracted players' final list is to be announced shortly. Shreyas Iyer, meanwhile, could find his place back in the contract list after appearing in 11 ODIs this season, after being left out of the contract list last year. The announcement will throw light on the final list and the changes made by the BCCI.
