Royal Challengers won the chase within 10 overs, but today major credit goes to Punjab batters more than the RCB bowlers. There is no doubt that RCB bowlers bowled their best, but Punjab Kings demonstrated how to target the absolute wrong balls, when the pitch is not suiting big hits. Well, Rajat Patidar took Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the finals after defeating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. Punjab Kings crashed to 101 all out in just 14.1 overs as Royal Challengers Bengaluru unleashed a bowling masterclass in Qualifier 1. The collapse was a sorry tale of reckless batting and ruthless bowling, with Punjab losing wickets at regular intervals in the most brain-faded ways possible. From Priyansh Arya creaming one straight to cover, to captain Shreyas Iyer throwing away his wicket with an ill-timed slog, it was chaos from top to bottom. The most shocking phase came in the middle overs — six wickets fell between overs 3 and 9. Shashank Singh and Musheer Khan played shots that looked more like desperation than intent, both bowled while attempting wild swings. Even experienced heads like Marcus Stoinis and Prabhsimran Singh couldn’t hold their ground. Suyash Sharma spun magic with 3/17, including the key wicket of Stoinis. Yash Dayal was incisive early on with 2/26, while Bhuvneshwar and Shepherd chipped in. Ironically, it was the lower order — Omarzai and Brar — who helped Punjab crawl past the 100-mark. But by then, the damage was beyond repair. RCB’s bowlers were simply too hot to handle. Royal Challengers Bengaluru made light work of Punjab's modest total of 101, chasing it down in just 10 overs with eight wickets in hand. Phil Salt led the charge with a blistering 56* off 27 balls, smashing 6 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 207.40. The only bright moment for Punjab came in the third over when Kyle Jamieson dismissed Virat Kohli for 12. It was a no-brainer—Jamieson has removed Kohli multiple times before, and today too, Kohli fell, nicking an outswinger. That over turned out to be a wicket-maiden, Punjab’s only highlight in an otherwise forgettable defense. While Punjab will have to play another match to decide their fate, RCB will head towards Ahmedabad for the final on June 3.
