Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday confirmed the appointment of former Tamil Nadu spinner Malolan Rangarajan as head coach of their women’s team for the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2026. Rangarajan succeeds Luke Williams, who led the side during the 2024 campaign but will miss the forthcoming season due to prior coaching duties with the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. RCB, who lifted their maiden WPL title earlier this year, made the announcement via their official X handle, describing Rangarajan as an “integral part of RCB’s cricketing evolution.” Rangarajan has been associated with the franchise for six years, taking on multiple roles across scouting, analytics, and assistant coaching. In his first statement as head coach, Rangarajan expressed gratitude and determination. He said, “I’m honoured to lead this team. The upcoming mega auction is an opportunity to refine our squad while retaining our core strength." He credited former coach Williams for building the championship foundation and promised to “continue RCB’s journey with discipline and unity.” Read also: Anya Shrubsole set to join RCB as bowling coach Smriti Mandhana and RCB management react RCB captain Smriti Mandhana welcomed the appointment, calling Rangarajan “a steady and positive influence on the group.” She added, “We’ve shared an excellent working relationship.
