The Mumbai stars Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will not be playing the final match of the group stage, stating on January 30, at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex against Meghalaya. According to a report from the Times of India, the trio is set to attend BCCI's Naman Awards before joining the team for the ODI series against England. The source anonymously informed TOI, “Rohit, Jaiswal and Iyer are all likely to attend the BCCI’s Naman Annual awards in Mumbai on February 1. Next day (February 2), they are supposed to report for a short camp to Nagpur before the three-match ODI series against England." Shreyas Iyer, who was snubbled from the BCCI Central Contract for skipping a match in the Ranji Trophy, has been a regular face in 2024 in the domestics, scoring runs for Mumbai, and a match saver in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Maharashtra. However, Rohit Sharma got the taste of domestics after 9 long years. Jaiswal too had a break from the domestic but did no fault in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Even Jaiswal, who was a top-order positive in the BGT, failed for Mumbai alongside Rohit Sharma. Apart from these three, Shivam Dube, the middle-order Mumbai prodigy, will also be missing the final match of the group stage. After Nitish Reddy has been injured, Dube got added in the home T20I series against England. Speaking about Mumbai, they need to win against Meghalaya to get the second sport in the Elite Group A Table to secure their spot for the quarterfinals.
