The 1st Test between India and New Zealand did witness some great moments, especially when the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had some fun with a fan at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The fan asked Rohit which IPL team he would play for in 2025. Rohit was in a humorous mood himself and went on to reply, "Kaunsa chahiye bol" (Which one do you want?). The fan replied to him saying, "Come to RCB". The first day of Test was totally washed away as it had been rain. On the second day, India won the toss and decided to bat first. But that was a pretty big-time wrong decision as India collapsed for 46 runs. It was the lowest ever total of India on home soil. New Zealand dominated the day with their batsmen by taking their first innings score at 402 runs. Ravindra was the brightest light in the innings, making a century, the first in India in this format. Conway contributed with 91 and Tim Southee added a useful 65 runs lower down the order. In reply, India fought back hard in the second innings. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal started well but was dismissed for 35. Rohit Sharma played a good knock for 52 but got out in an unorthodox way. Then Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli steadied the ship as Kohli reached 70 before losing his wicket on the last ball of Day 3. On Day 4, Sarfaraz and Rishabh Pant caught up with the tempo from where they had left off on Day 3. They reduced the deficit by scoring quickly. Both Sarfaraz got his maiden Test century and Pant reached a half-century. India was at 344-3 when lunch was called but the rain started drizzling again and the play was stopped.
