India's captain, Rohit Sharma is all set to join the Indian team in Australia in a few days. The Indian captain is likely to reach Perth on November 24, and that will be the third day of the first Test against Australia at Optus Stadium. The trip to Australia got delayed as his second child was born recently. The Indian team traveled to Australia in three batches between November 10 and 11. However, Rohit stayed back in India for the birth of his baby boy on November 15. Speculations regarding the likely time he would join the team in Australia have been circulating since then. Some reports said he should reach Perth before the start of the Test that begins on Friday, November 22, though it had always been known that Rohit would delay his departure. Now Rohit has confirmed that he will join the squad on Sunday, November 24. Rohit is absent, and Jasprit Bumrah leads the Indian team for the first Test here. In fact, Bumrah has mentioned that he has been in touch with the regular captain and has got clarity on his role only now that he has arrived in Perth. During the press conference, Bumrah said: "I spoke with Rohit earlier. But I got a little bit of clarity on leading the side after coming in here." I'm sure the management is also keeping a keen eye. Hopefully, things fall in place and you might see him here as well." Meanwhile, there has been a discussion about the possibility of fast bowler Mohammed Shami getting included in the team. Shami has been also asked to play domestic matches and is with Bengal for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, starting on 23rd November in Rajkot. Bumrah hopes that Shami would return to the fray with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy when he gets clearance from NCA. India's side is beginning to take shape ahead of that all-crucial series against Australia, as led by Bumrah, Shami possible in the later stages.
