The Indian cricket team is preparing for its highly anticipated return to international cricket with the Asia Cup 2025 that starts on September 9. Following a month-long off after the Test series against England that ended on August 4, players now prepare for a compulsory fitness test at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. The yo-yo test, an essential test of fitness and endurance, will determine player eligibility for the continental competition. Players not reaching the threshold will not just miss out on selection but those already selected in the squad might also be dropped. Top Stars in Focus Ahead of Fitness Test According to a report by The Indian Express, seven players have been lined up for the yo-yo test. These include Test captain Shubman Gill, ODI captain Rohit Sharma, and veteran pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shardul Thakur, and Mohammed Siraj will undergo the fitness test in Bengaluru. Gill and Bumrah, both members of India's Asia Cup team, will need to prove their fitness to earn their places. Gill, who returned to the T20I ranks a short while ago as vice-captain, is eager to keep heading the team's charge in red-ball cricket.
