The Indian Test team is taking some time off after such a huge 2-0 whitewash series win at home over Bangladesh. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma can be seen posing with Mumbai's young rising player, Musheer Khan, and his father, Naushad Khan, during the free time available. He suffered a fracture from an accident on the road while traveling with his father to Lucknow for the Irani Cup 2024 match. However, he has played some exemplary cricket for the last couple of months. He did wonders in the Duleep Trophy 2024 wherein he scored 181 runs as part of India B, which Abhimanyu Easwaran was leading. Musheer has also been a regular performer for Mumbai and did well during India's U19 World Cup campaign. Mumbai, as the defending champion, has been placed in Elite Group A with teams such as Baroda, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Services, Odisha, Meghalaya, and Maharashtra. Mumbai get their Ranji Trophy campaign underway with an away tie against Baroda at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday, after which they will entertain Maharashtra at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy on October 18. Musheer has not being threatened at any stage with a career-ending injury, but Mumbai would indeed want him to recover soon and and start playing for the side. Meanwhile, for Rohit Sharma, it is time to look forward to India's test series against New Zealand which commences on October 16. This three-test battle is a must-win affair between the two as they both look to gain the points that will keep them in the top two to qualify for the ultimate Test World Championship of the 2025-26 season.
