The Board of Cricket Control in India has announced the 15-man squad for the three-match ODI series against Australia. As speculated earlier, Rohit Sharma has been demoted from captaincy, and Shubman Gill succeeded him as the new ODI captain. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, who is currently leading the India-A batch against Australia A at Kanpur, has been announced as the deputy of Shubman Gill. Notably, this series will see both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back in the helm. However, key players like Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah are missing. Bumrah, who is currently playing the West Indies Test series in India, has been rested. Both Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant are dealing with injuries. Nitish Kumar Reddy has received the call to replace Pandya. Dhruv Jurel, on the other hand, has been chosen as the backup keeper in the ODI, with KL Rahul as the first-choice keeper. The Indian team will be playing three ODI matches against Australia. The first one will be played on October 19th at Perth, followed by the 23rd and 25th of October in Adelaide and Sydney, respectively.
