Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke made a shocking claim on Rohit Sharma's captaincy ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The 2015 ODI World Cup captain feels that Rohit's captaincy may be challenged if India wins the first Test at Perth, commencing on November 22. While speaking on the TAB YouTube channel, Clarke said, 'I think these expectations of how good he is will certainly bring the best out of him. Some people can shy away from it but I don’t think that he will. I think he will get better. If he captains the first Test, that will inspire him to lead from the front. I will be nervous. I will be worrying if I was Rohit Sharma coming to Australia.' Jasprit Bumrah to lead in absence of Rohit Sharma Reports are claiming that Rohit Sharma has officially informed BCCI about his unavaility in the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. They further claim that he may either join the team before the Adelaide Test or in the middle of the Perth Test. Travis Head supported Rohit After the Australian former captain Aaron Finch, the Aussie opener too supported Rohit's decision to take paternity leave. Not only that, he claimed that he himself would have done the same if he were in Rohit's place. In an interview with RevSportz, he said, "Hundred per cent, I support Rohit's decision. I would have done the same in the same situation. We sacrifice a lot of things as a cricketer. We do live a very privileged life and we do also get looked after. But also on the flip side we keep missing important milestones. So, ya, I would do the same thing if I was in his position, you do not get that time back. Hopefully, he returns at some stage in this series." India will look for a 4-1 win against Australia for a safe qualification in the 2025 World Test Championship final
